Modular stick built collapsible dollhouse: PART VI Dismantling Roof

Bringing down the roof

To see entire project click here

Roof, front

Roof, open back

Roof, interior.  Wiring & precut rafters would be added by kit-builder.

Removing rod that locks finger joints at ridge of roof...

Pulling finger joints apart after complete removal of rod...

Separate roof parts: Front, back & rod. Now the parts can be easily decorated, stored flat or mailed!  Also the structure is very lightweight - meaning less postage.

I found that the finger joints were rather difficult to separate - had to sand each one. I don't want to do that again, LOL.

New concept that I will next apply to the walls & future roofs:

The green color coded section is the open back frame, blue = sides & red = front...

Because of the new tapered finger design the front & back posts easily pull part without binding.
